Jo Malone London's Earl Grey & Cucumber is prized for its light, almost transparent freshness - a zesty bergamot top note that genuinely reads like a good cup of tea, paired with cool, watery cucumber and very little else, designed to be worn alone or layered with other Jo Malone colognes. Eden Perfumes' No.577 builds on the same bergamot-and-cucumber backbone but adds a touch more body: jasmine and green tea round out the top, angelica reinforces the herbal-green cucumber heart, and a soft musk-cedar-vanilla base gives it slightly more staying power than the famously fleeting original. The result is a little less minimalist and a little warmer than Jo Malone's version, trading some of that crisp, translucent quality for a fragrance that lasts noticeably longer on skin. It remains an easy, unisex, daytime-appropriate scent that suits office wear or casual days from spring through summer, and works well for anyone who liked the idea of Earl Grey & Cucumber but wished the original had a bit more longevity for the price.
