No.042 opens with a fresh, verdant blend of bergamot, magnolia and freesia, lifted by soft peach and pineapple - a close nod to the alpine-meadow freshness that made Gucci's original Envy so distinctive in the late 90s. Hyacinth leads the heart alongside lily of the valley, jasmine, violet, rose and iris, keeping the floral bouquet green and dewy rather than sweet or heavy. The base brings musk, cedar, sandalwood and oakmoss together for a clean, slightly earthy finish that grounds the composition without weighing it down. Against the designer original, which built its reputation on a genuinely striking, dewy-green freshness with real staying power, this version feels lighter and less vivid, with the green facets softening into a simple clean-musk finish well before the day is done. It still offers an easy, pleasant way to experience that late-90s green-floral style, and works nicely for office wear or casual daytime use across the warmer months.
