Euphorium Brooklyn Cilice is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2015, created by Stephen Dirkes. Euphorium Brooklyn's Cilice carries an Acquired verdict, a musk-led wear.

Cilice is a dark, resinous scent that smells like smoke, old leather and honeyed wax. It is not an easy wear, but anyone who likes their unisex fragrances serious and a little austere will find plenty to chew on.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Cilice is an eau de parfum built around church-like resins and smouldering woods. Frankincense, elemi and benzoin set a dry, smoky tone, while birch and cedar add a charred, resinous backbone. Leather, castoreum and oud bring an animalic edge, softened by beeswax, honey and a touch of coumarin sweetness. Clove and angelica add a spiced, slightly herbal bite, and labdanum, papyrus and ambergris round it into a warm, dense, mysterious finish. It is a heavy, brooding scent for people who want character over polish.
