About

RL195 recreates the original 1978-era Polo formula rather than the newer, lighter modern releases, opening with a sharp, herbal blend of juniper berries, artemisia, caraway, basil, coriander and bergamot. Pine needles, leather, chamomile, pepper, carnation, geranium, jasmine and rose build a dense green-floral heart before the fragrance settles into tobacco, oakmoss, patchouli, cedar, vetiver, musk and amber - the classic woody-chypre base that made vintage Polo a benchmark of 1970s and 80s masculine perfumery. This dupe captures that old-school green-leather character well, though the top notes come through simpler and less layered than the genuinely dense original pyramid, and the oakmoss reads a touch more generic-woody than the real thing's distinctive mossy-earthy complexity. Longevity and richness are strong for the price, making this a good way to experience the classic Polo formula for anyone priced out of vintage bottles. Best worn in cooler weather where its dense, leathery green character has room to develop.
