Royal Vanilla

by Pierre Montale

Mancera Royal Vanilla is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2019, created by Pierre Montale. The fragrance opens with Rose, Rhubarb, and Citrus, settles into a heart of Rose, Violet, Orange Blossom, and Caramel, and dries down to a base of Patchouli, Musk, Amber, and Vanilla.

Our verdict on Royal Vanilla: Acquired

If only Mancera had been brave enough to make a vanilla beast without the Rose-Vanilla DNA, rather than playing it safe with another crowd-pleaser that splits opinion. The brutal opening makes this a risky blind buy.

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter
Also Works:
Spring

A cold-weather scent - best worn in winter and autumn.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date
Also Works:
Casual

Its beastly performance, especially the initial harshness, makes it unsuitable for professional settings. However, its bold and sweet profile is perfect for making an impression on a date or for cooler weather casual outings, though perhaps a bit much for formal events.

About

Royal Vanilla opens with a tart rhubarb and bright citrus, quickly giving way to a jammy rose and sweet violet heart. A thick, caramelised vanilla then takes centre stage, underscored by earthy patchouli and a warm amber, creating a plush, almost syrupy dry-down that lingers for ages. It's a rich, opulent scent, not for the faint of heart.
