About

Always Rouge is a rose fragrance that keeps returning to rose. It opens with rose and cumin, so the first impression is a petal note with a dry, savoury spice running through it. The cumin gives it a warm, skin-like quality from the first spray. The heart repeats the rose and adds vetiver and cedar. Vetiver brings a cool, earthy green and cedar brings a clean, pencil-shaving dryness, which stops the flower turning sweet or powdery. The base is where the colour deepens. Musk smooths the edges, guaiac wood adds a smoky sweetness and agarwood gives a dark, resinous depth. Olibanum and labdanum finish with a balsamic glow that clings to skin. As an extrait it sits close for the first hour, then radiates gently and lasts a long day. It suits anyone who wants rose with an oud backbone: evenings, cooler months and dressed-up days out. Oakcha no longer sells Always Rouge (its page has been removed from oakcha.com), and this page records it for owners. Bottom line: a spiced, resinous rose with a dark finish.
