Invictus built its identity on a grapefruit-and-sea-water opening that feels athletic and immediate, and this One Pure Drop oil reproduces that hit convincingly. The citrus and marine accord arrive fast and bright, with a touch of mandarin sweetness. The bay leaf and jasmine heart that gives the original some structure is present but understated here, and the guaiac-wood-and-amber base - Invictus's distinctive smoky-sweet finish - reads simpler and less textured, closer to a generic warm woody-amber accord than the original's more specific composition. Still, the overall silhouette (fresh marine citrus opening into a warm base) is recognisable. As an oil it applies quickly for a gym bag or a casual day out, though don't expect the spray version's room-filling sillage.
