Ostens Impression Patchouli Heart No. II is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2018, created by Sophie Labbé. Impression Patchouli Heart No. II opens with Cypress, Pepper, and Ginger, settles into a heart of Cypriol Oil or Nagarmotha, Patchouli, Iris, and Violet Leaf, and dries down to a base of Musk, Ambroxan, Labdanum, and Cashmeran. Ostens's Impression Patchouli Heart No. II carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

A soft, airy take on patchouli: iris, violet leaf and cypriol over cypress and pepper, with cashmeran, ambroxan and musk below. Dry, earthy and powdery rather than sweet, it is a quiet one for spring days.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Autumn Winter

Spring leads the votes, with autumn and winter close behind and summer weakest. The airy, iris-led, dry woods feel cool and fresh rather than heavy, which suits the transitional seasons best.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual
Also Works:
Formal

Leisure, business and daily wear lead the occasion votes and day wear leads at night. It is quiet and clean enough for the office or a casual day, and less of an evening or date scent.

About

Patchouli Heart No. II is the lighter, rounder partner to No. I in the Ostens Impression range, composed by Sophie Labbé. Where the first leans on herbs and resin, this one is powdery and airy, with iris doing much of the work and the patchouli kept soft. The opening is cool and dry: cypress, ginger and black pepper. The heart is iris and violet leaf with patchouli and cypriol, which give it an earthy, slightly smoky edge, like soil and suede gardening gloves. The base is cashmeran, ambroxan and musk with a little labdanum, and wearers report a clean, skin-like finish where the iris and violet leaf come forward. Performance is moderate. Votes are mixed on longevity, from weak to eternal, and sillage runs from intimate to strong, so how it wears depends on skin. Spring leads the season votes, autumn and winter follow, and summer is weakest. Leisure, business and daily wear all score well, which makes it an easy scent for a working day. Opinion is warm but quiet. Some call it an elegant, fresh patchouli that lasts, and others find it simply a dry woody scent or a bit dull, and a few cannot find the patchouli at all. It suits wearers who want patchouli without the earthiness turned up, and it sits close to other iris and woods scents on the shelf.
