Blonde Amber Attar

Blonde Amber Attar takes on Clive Christian's opulent Blonde Amber, a fragrance built from an enormous number of components layered into a smoky, dried-fruit-laden amber. Unsurprisingly, an inexpensive oil can't replicate that density, but it does capture the general warmth well: rum, orange and cardamom give a spiced, slightly boozy opening, and the vanilla-tonka-labdanum base delivers a rich, sweet amber finish that's genuinely close in mood to the original. Tobacco and dried fruit add a little of the smoky, indulgent character from the heart, though the tuberose, jasmine and osmanthus that give the real Blonde Amber its florid complexity are essentially absent here, leaving a much more straightforward sweet-amber composition. Performance stays gentle and close to the skin, as with the rest of this oil line, settling into a soft, warm sweetness within a couple of hours rather than the original's dense, long-building richness. It's a fair, simplified take on the mood of a genuinely maximalist fragrance, best appreciated as its own warm, amber-forward scent rather than a faithful miniature.
