Althair Attar copies Parfums de Marly's Althaïr, a fragrance reviewers have called one of the best gourmand releases in recent years for the way it balances an unexpected lychee-bergamot brightness against a rich praline-vanilla-tonka base. The dupe keeps that sweet, candied-almond character front and centre - praline and vanilla dominate in a way that mirrors the original's dessert-like appeal, and cardamom gives it the same warm spice through the heart. The exotic lychee note that reviewers single out as setting the original apart from generic vanilla fragrances is present but fainter here, fading earlier than in the spray version. The guaiac wood that adds smoky depth and stops Althaïr from being purely sweet is also softened, leaving this version leaning further into straightforward vanilla-tonka comfort. It still delivers an easy, crowd-pleasing warm gourmand that fans of the original's sweetness will recognise immediately, just with less of the smoky, sophisticated edge that makes the real Althaïr stand out.
