Pearl Fragrances keeps that warm, spice-forward opening intact, with saffron and cardamom arriving alongside a citrus lift that mirrors the original's complex bergamot-and-grapefruit prelude. The Bulgarian rose and nutmeg heart that reviewers say gives Halfeti its rich, complex core is simplified to a single rose note here, and the elaborate base of oud, leather, cedar, sandalwood, amber and tonka is compressed into a much plainer oud-leather-amber blend. Reviewers of the original disagree on whether the drydown is genuinely luxurious or an overdone cigarette-ash finish; this version sidesteps that argument entirely by simply not developing as far - it settles early and stays fairly static rather than building the layered richness Penhaligon's is going for.
