Sauvage Attar

Sauvage Attar goes after the world's best-selling men's fragrance, Dior Sauvage, and gets the broad strokes right: a bright bergamot opening giving way to a warm, ambery base that carries most of the wear time. What it cannot fully replicate is the original's signature metallic tingle, the Sichuan pepper and ambroxan combination that makes Sauvage instantly recognisable and gives it room-filling projection. In oil form the peppery top note is softened into a gentler pink pepper accent, and the base leans on more familiar amber, patchouli and musk rather than the synthetic ambroxan that defines the real thing. The result is a pleasant, clean, citrus-amber scent that nods to Sauvage without chasing its exact aromachemical fingerprint, and it stays much closer to the skin than the original's famous sillage. Good for anyone who wants the general vibe for everyday wear without the volume.
