Air Right takes on Lush Gorilla Perfume's cult Breath of God, a fragrance of paradoxes built from a smoky 'exhale' and a fresh 'inhale'. It opens with woody Virginia cedar and sandalwood beside a soft neroli, then a curious heart pits airy melon and bright Amalfi lemon against a dark thread of incense. The base layers juniper, black pepper, grapefruit, vetiver, ylang-ylang and rose for a green, smoky-fresh finish. As a budget version it captures the smoky-yet-fresh dual character that makes the original so distinctive, but renders it flatter and less hypnotic - the tarry incense depth and the eerie tension between the two halves are softened.
