Air Right

Air Right takes on Lush Gorilla Perfume's cult Breath of God, a fragrance of paradoxes built from a smoky 'exhale' and a fresh 'inhale'. It opens with woody Virginia cedar and sandalwood beside a soft neroli, then a curious heart pits airy melon and bright Amalfi lemon against a dark thread of incense. The base layers juniper, black pepper, grapefruit, vetiver, ylang-ylang and rose for a green, smoky-fresh finish. As a budget version it captures the smoky-yet-fresh dual character that makes the original so distinctive, but renders it flatter and less hypnotic - the tarry incense depth and the eerie tension between the two halves are softened. Performance is modest rather than the original's long, quiet persistence. An unusual, characterful scent for those who want Breath of God's strange charm at a fraction of the cost.
