Perfume Parlour's Amber Levant goes after Louis Vuitton's Ambre Levant, a dense oriental woody built around dried fruit and dark oud. The mandarin opening is bright and fleeting, a quick citrus flash before the fruit-and-spice heart takes over - date, apricot, cinnamon and clove combine into a warm, slightly boozy sweetness that's a genuinely fair echo of the original's signature accord. Where the dupe pulls back is the base: the real Ambre Levant is famous for a smoky, resinous oud that clings to skin and clothing for 8-10 hours, while this version's oud-cedarwood-labdanum-musk base is softer and noticeably more polite, settling into a pleasant but much lighter amber-woody finish after three or four hours. It's a fair-priced way to sample the amber-oud category without committing to a premium price tag, and the opening act is convincing enough to fool a casual sniff, but anyone chasing the original's smoky longevity and depth will find this a lighter, shorter-lived stand-in.
