Explosive Flower chases Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb Rose Explosion, the richer, oriental version of the cult Flowerbomb. It opens with a fresh, spicy lift of pink pepper and saffron over mandarin and bergamot, before the heart that gives it its name: a stunning burst of rose, the honeyed Turkish and woody Moroccan rose absolutes braided with jasmine and a faint green olive nuance. The drydown is warm and sensual, with earthy patchouli, sweet vanilla, soft amber and a thread of oud that adds depth without going harsh. Where the original is a powerhouse (above-average projection, a luscious rose still going twelve hours later), this keeps the spicy-rose-oud story but reads flatter and less honeyed through the rose, projects more modestly and fades sooner. It remains a rich, sensual oriental-rose, bold, romantic and a touch spicy, that suits cooler months and dressier occasions.
