Mystic Enigma For Men

Mystic Enigma opens on a soft, fizzy bergamot that hints at the original's signature cola-like sparkle. The heart is a powdery, cherry-tinged heliotrope laced with jasmine, neroli, may rose and geranium. Then the boozy base arrives - a splash of cognac over rich vanilla, tobacco, benzoin and ambergris, warmed by cardamom and a touch of patchouli, building the intoxicating amber-spicy cocktail Roja Enigma is loved for. Compared to the original, this Perfume Parlour interpretation captures the DNA well but, as fans of the dupe point out, it doesn't quite 'pop': the luxurious ingredient quality that gave the Roja its dense richness and big projection is dialled back, so the dupe is a touch flatter and fades sooner. It still delivers a genuinely upscale-smelling, boozy amber-tobacco for cold-weather evenings and dressed-up occasions.
