Oud Boost

Perfume Parlour Oud Boost is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2017. Oud Boost opens with Angelica and Cypress, settles into a heart of Oud, and dries down to a base of Sandalwood and Amber. Perfume Parlour's Oud Boost carries a Favourite verdict, a woody-led wear.

Oud Boost chases Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense - a deeper, smokier oud than the standard Oud Wood. The dupe leans hard on the dominant oud accord with a green cypress lift, but renders flatter and less leathery, sitting closer to the skin than the powerhouse original.

About

Oud Boost opens with a green, slightly herbal cypress and angelica accord before the star of the show takes over: a deep, smoky oud meant to echo Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense, the bolder and more animalic sibling of the original Oud Wood. Creamy sandalwood and a touch of amber soften the drydown into a warmer, rounder woody base. Where the real Intense layers in nutmeg, leather and patchouli for a rich, room-filling depth, the Perfume Parlour version is more linear and one-dimensional - the oud is present and convincing but the surrounding complexity and the leathery animalic edge are thinned out. Projection stays modest and longevity is moderate rather than the days-on-clothing endurance of the original. A straightforward, affordable smoky oud for cold-weather wear.
