Remedy

Perfume Parlour Remedy is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2006. Remedy opens with Cardamom, Grapefruit, Mint, and Mandarin, settles into a heart of Violet, Geranium, Orange Blossom, and Nutmeg, and dries down to a base of Guaiac Wood, Cedar, Oakmoss, and Vanilla. Perfume Parlour's Remedy carries a Favourite verdict, a woody-led wear.

Remedy revives the discontinued Viktor & Rolf Antidote, opening fresh-spicy with cardamom and mint before sinking into a cinnamon-and-woods heart. The original's peculiar, complex spicy-woody character reads simpler and flatter here, but it's a welcome budget revival of a hard-to-find oriental.

About

Remedy opens crisp and spicy - cardamom, grapefruit and a cooling thread of mint over mandarin - echoing the citrus-green top of Viktor & Rolf Antidote. The heart warms with cinnamon and nutmeg laced through soft florals, before the base settles into a dry, slightly incensy blend of guaiac wood, cedar, leather and amber sweetened with vanilla and tonka. The original was a peculiar, complex spicy-woody oriental that some found intriguing and hard to pin down; this Perfume Parlour version smooths that complexity into a more linear, flatter shape, with the spice forward and the resinous incense-leather depth thinned. Projection is moderate and longevity sits in the middle band. A confident, masculine spicy-woody best worn in cooler months for evenings, the office and dressier occasions.
