Robe opens with a brief sparkle of pink pepper, tangerine and bergamot before settling into the resinous heart it is really about: benzoin, olibanum and styrax layered into a warm, enveloping incense accord. Labdanum and musk round out the drydown with a sweet, ambered glow. Inspired by YSL Caftan, it chases that cozy oriental signature - a smoky-sweet incense-and-amber blend that feels like a warm wrap. As a Perfume Parlour version it renders the resins flatter and a touch more synthetic, with the inexpensive benzoin and labdanum weighted up and the finer incense facets softened, so it sits closer to the skin and projects less than the original's notably strong sillage and 11-plus-hour wear. The result is a comforting, resinous amber-incense that captures the mood of Caftan for a fraction of the price, ideal for cold-weather cosseting.
