Wood Dark

Perfume Parlour Wood Dark is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2012. Wood Dark opens with Cedar and Guaiac Wood, settles into a heart of Patchouli and Sandalwood, and dries down to a base of resins, Labdanum, and Musk. Perfume Parlour's Wood Dark carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

A budget clone of Robert Piguet's Bois Noir. The dark, smoky woody character with its guaiac, patchouli and resinous labdanum lands recognisably, and since the original already leans synthetic-woody, this budget version closes much of the usual gap.

About

Wood Dark follows Robert Piguet's darkly compelling Bois Noir, opening immediately woodsy and velvety with cedar and smoky guaiac wood. A heart of patchouli and creamy sandalwood deepens the shadowy character before a base of resins, labdanum and musk brings a soothing, faintly vanillic warmth. The original is a woody-aromatic prized for its dark, silky-leathery wood with cipriol and cistus, good projection and above-average nine-hour longevity, though some find it synthetic. This clone captures that dark smoky-woody signature and the resinous depth faithfully; it reads a touch simpler and the synthetic edge is a little more apparent, but with comparable wear it loses little against an original that already leans that way. It's an opulent, mysterious cold-weather woody that delivers the Bois Noir experience for pennies.
