Montblanc Explorer built its identity on a clean, adventurous bergamot-and-leather profile, and Copycat's version follows a similar arc: bright bergamot and pink pepper open things up, with clary sage adding a soft aromatic lift that echoes the original's fresh, outdoorsy first impression. The vetiver-leather heart is the closest match here, bringing genuine earthiness and a touch of ruggedness that tracks with Explorer's signature. The base, though, is where the two diverge - the original's patchouli-cocoa-akigalawood drydown is prized for a smooth, refined, slightly sweet woodiness that lingers for hours, while this version's base notes read thinner and less resinous, settling into a simpler woody-musk finish sooner than the flagship.
