Ombre Leather

Tom Ford's Ombre Leather built a cult following on its smooth suede leather laced with jasmine sambac and a smoky, ambered base - understated but unmistakably confident. SMEL.' version follows the same shape, opening with leather and cardamom before a jasmine sambac heart and an amber-oakmoss-patchouli base. It gets the broad silhouette right: a warm, wearable leather floral rather than an aggressive, old-school leather scent. Where it falls short is texture - the original's leather note has a distinctive smoky, almost tobacco-adjacent depth that's genuinely difficult to replicate at a budget price point, so this version reads smoother and simpler, with less of that raw, worn-in hide character. Performance is moderate rather than the original's confident all-day sillage. Still, it's a competent, wearable leather floral suited to office wear, formal occasions and dates where a sleek, modern leather scent fits the mood.
