Dawn of Petra takes on one of Amouage's newest and most acclaimed releases, Guidance 46, and the note-by-note overlap is impressive: pear, frankincense, hazelnut and bitter almond up top, rose, osmanthus and saffron through the heart, sandalwood, akigalawood and vanilla in the base. That level of pyramid accuracy is rare among dupes and suggests real effort went into reverse-engineering the composition. What no budget extrait can replicate is Guidance 46's actual concentration - Amouage built the original around a 46 percent extrait, letting the rose-frankincense-saffron triad unfold slowly over many hours with real depth. This version, priced for everyday wear, is thinner and moves through its stages much faster, landing on a simpler ambery-woody finish well before the original even gets going. A genuinely good-faith attempt at the notes, undermined by the format it's competing in.
