Anna Sui

Anna Sui is an American fashion designer of Chinese heritage whose beauty and fragrance line grew out of her fashion label in the late 1990s. After opening her first boutique in New York’s SoHo in 1992, she entered beauty in partnership with Japanese company Albion and introduced her debut fragrance in 1999, created with Wella AG. That first scent, often referred to as Anna Sui Classic, featured a purple-toned juice, a black lacquered bottle with baroque detailing, and a rose-led composition that tied directly to the look and mood of her boutiques.

Over time, fragrance has become a core part of the Anna Sui universe, marked by strong visual storytelling and collectible bottles. Lines such as Sui Dreams, Secret Wish, Dolly Girl, Fantasia, and more recently Sundae and Wild Wonder mirror themes from her runway collections, from 1960s London pop culture to fairytale and fantasy motifs. In 2011, the fragrance license moved to French company Interparfums, which now develops and distributes her scents and typically launches multiple key fragrances each year.

Anna Sui’s perfumes are known for playful, colorful packaging and a clear tilt toward youthful, feminine compositions. Many releases emphasize fruity and floral notes, often layered over warm woods or musks, giving them an approachable style suited to everyday wear and gifting. Despite the lighthearted image, the brand has built a sizeable catalog, with more than 50 fragrances documented across major databases, spanning two decades of continuous releases.
