About Les Parfums de Rosine

Les Parfums de Rosine began in Paris in 1911, when couturier Paul Poiret created a perfume house named for his eldest daughter, Rosine. The original line produced about 30 fragrances before disappearing during the economic disruption of the Great Depression. Poiret's house was among the early French couture-linked perfume businesses, connecting fragrance with a broader fashion and decorative-arts identity.

Marie-Hélène Rogeon revived the name in 1991 at the Palais Royal in Paris. Her family history is closely tied to the original house: her grandfather, a perfumer and plant specialist, created fragrances for Poiret. The modern brand therefore combines a documented historical link with a distinctly rose-centred creative brief rather than treating rose as a single fixed style.

Its catalogue explores rose through contrasting materials and structures, including green and citrus effects, spice, tea, chocolate, incense, woods, amber, musk and vanilla. Examples include Diabolo Rose with peppermint, tomato leaf and mate; Rose Praline with dark chocolate, rose absolute and lapsang souchong tea; and Rose Kashmirie with saffron, rose, myrrh, sandalwood and vanilla. The result is a niche house best suited to users who want multiple interpretations of rose, from fresh and leafy to gourmand, spicy or resinous.

Brand Evolution

The original house was established by Paul Poiret in 1911 and later disappeared from the market. Marie-Hélène Rogeon reintroduced Les Parfums de Rosine in 1991, initially with fragrances created by François Robert. The modern direction retains the house's rose identity while widening it with citrus, herbs, tea, chocolate, spice, incense, woods and amber.

Quick Verdict

A focused niche house for people who genuinely want rose in many forms. Its identity is distinctive, but the narrow floral theme and premium pricing limit its appeal for shoppers seeking broad stylistic variety.
