RANIA J

RANIA J is a French niche perfume house created by perfumer Rania Jouaneh in 2012. Originally from Jordan and having grown up between the Middle East and North Africa, she later settled and trained in perfumery in Paris, including studies at Cinquième Sens. Her brand reflects this mixed background: Middle Eastern materials and memories are filtered through French training and production.

Several of the line's best known perfumes lean into dense resins, woods and animalic nuances. Ambre Loup, often cited as the brand's signature, is built around amber, patchouli and leather, while Cuir Andalou focuses on leather and spices with a nod to Andalusian culture. Other creations such as Oud Assam and Rose Ishtar show her interest in oud and rose, with formulas built largely from natural raw materials selected directly from producers and distillers using traditional methods.

Across the collection, the stated aim is to present a modern reading of the Orient within a French framework, with many scents described as unisex but purchased predominantly by male customers. The formulas are rich in natural essences, which the perfumer herself has noted tend to give notable depth and longevity while maintaining relatively moderate projection. The house is independently owned, headquartered in France, and positions itself as a small-scale, quality-focused operation rather than a mass-market label.
