Trimofix
Note Profile
About
Dry woody ambergris with smoky vetiver
Scent Profile
Trimofix smells of dry woody amber, close to ambergris but without any sea or animal side. Dry cedar and earthy vetiver run through it. A smoky, dry tobacco tone sits behind, with a slight musk at the back. It is not sweet.

Origin
Trimofix, also sold as Trimofix O, Amber Decatriene and Fixamber, is an IFF woody-amber fixative. IFF describes it as the reaction product of acetic anhydride and 1,5,10-trimethyl-1,5,9-cyclodecatriene. Suppliers name the main component as methyl 2,6,10-trimethylcyclododeca-2,5,9-trienyl ketone and print two different CAS numbers, so the name is the identity here.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as a powerful, diffusive woody-amber base and fixative. IFF says it gives dry tones to ambergris and adds body to leather, vetiver and tobacco notes. It lasts over 250 hours on a smelling strip.
