When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

A firmly cold-weather scent. The smoky cedar-tobacco opening and the heavy coffee-oud-patchouli drydown are too dense and brooding for warm days, but they bloom in autumn and winter where the dark, resinous warmth feels at home.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date
Also Works:
Formal

Its potent projection, long wear, and dark, unsweetened character make it a poor fit for the office or sport. It suits a distinctive date, low-key personal casual wear, or a cool-weather formal evening where standing apart is the point rather than blending in.

About

Black Velvet Cafe opens on a dry, dark cedar laced with the smoky sweetness of tobacco, conjuring a dimly lit cafe of worn wood and velvet. As it settles, a pale, papery white-wood facet threads through the smoke before the heart of the scent reveals itself: a bitter, almost ashy black coffee absolute wrapped around a dirty, animalic oud. Earthy patchouli grounds the long, unsweetened drydown, leaving a deep, brooding, resinous trail that reads more brown and shadowed than truly black.
