Executive Order bills itself as an original creation, not a dupe of any single fragrance, though its citrus-aquatic-to-woody arc is a familiar modern-masculine shape. It opens with mandarin peel and bergamot cut by a briny sea-salt accord and a breath of cool mint, a fresh, office-appropriate burst that reads clean rather than distinctive. The heart brings black pepper and cardamom over a suede base, giving a bit of spice and texture without much complexity. The dry-down is straightforward cashmere wood, ambergris and musk - pleasant, inoffensive and long-wearing at a budget price, but flatter and less layered than the premium fresh-woody references it's positioned against.
