Alexandria UK Redondo Beach #05 is an Eau de Parfum. Redondo Beach #05 opens with Bergamot and Pink Pepper, settles into a heart of Amber and Jasmine, and dries down to a base of Musk, Sandalwood, and Vanilla. Alexandria UK's Redondo Beach #05 carries an Acquired verdict, a amber-led wear.

A budget take on Rosendo Mateu No 5, keeping the amber-vanilla-musk skeleton but swapping the original's odd, polarising rubber facet for a simpler, sweeter jasmine-vanilla blend that's easier to like but less distinctive.

About

Redondo Beach #05 borrows the amber-vanilla-musk architecture of Rosendo Mateu No 5 but smooths out the original's more challenging, rubbery edge into something friendlier and more conventionally sweet. The citrus-spice opening is brief and fairly generic, giving way quickly to a jasmine-amber heart that's pleasant but two-dimensional next to the original's carnation-and-lily complexity. Where it lands closest is the base: a warm, creamy blend of vanilla, white musk and soft woods that reads as an honest facsimile of the drydown people love the original for. Performance is decent for the price point, with moderate sillage in the first couple of hours before settling into a skin scent, though it fades faster than the niche original. It's a reasonable way to sample the amber-vanilla-musk concept cheaply, but it lacks the depth and slightly unusual character that makes the original memorable.
