Aromara Black Tie is an Extrait de Parfum. Black Tie opens with Bergamot and Pink Pepper, settles into a heart of Vetiver, Patchouli, and Iris, and dries down to a base of Musk, Leather, and Vanilla. Aromara's Black Tie carries a Statement verdict, a leather-led wear.

Black Tie takes on YSL Tuxedo's polished woody-leather with the same bergamot-to-leather arc, and holds up well through the opening and heart. The suede-like leather note is a touch flatter than the original's more layered treatment, but the overall sophistication carries through at a fraction of the £270 price.

About

Black Tie is Aromara's version of Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo, an elegant woody-leather aimed at evenings that call for something more composed than a typical fresh scent. Bergamot and pink pepper open with a crisp, slightly spicy brightness that quickly gives way to a powdery, iris-led heart - patchouli and vetiver add earthiness without tipping into heaviness. The leather note arrives gradually through the base rather than all at once, paired with vanilla and musk for a smooth, suede-like finish that feels dressed-up without being overpowering. Compared to the original, this dupe renders the leather a little flatter and less textured, missing some of the nuance that makes Tuxedo feel genuinely luxurious, and the drydown collapses into a simpler musk-vanilla blend sooner than expected. Still, the overall shape - refined, slightly sweet, unmistakably formalwear-coded - comes through clearly, and at 35% extrait the longevity holds up respectably through a full evening out.
