Fugaze reinterprets BORNTOSTANDOUT by Fugazzi, a dark, rule-breaking oud-leather composition that built a cult following among niche fragrance collectors. Bergamot and saffron open the scent, a sharp, slightly metallic top note that signals from the first spray this isn't a soft, easy fragrance. The heart moves quickly into oud, leather and tobacco, a smoky, masculine trio that dominates the wear for hours. Amber, patchouli and musk anchor the base, adding warmth and sweetness that stops the composition from reading purely acrid. The overall effect is brooding and confident, built for evenings where a loud, distinctive scent is the goal rather than something to be worn quietly. Compared with the original, which retails well above £200, Fugaze nails the oud-leather-tobacco backbone convincingly, that dark, smoky signature is instantly recognisable, but the tobacco note reads slightly simpler and less boozy than the reference, and the amber-patchouli base doesn't build quite the same layered depth over the full wear. It still performs well for the format, holding its smoky character for the full evening, and suits cold-weather dates and formal occasions where a bold, masculine statement scent is welcome.
