Aromara Obsidian Veil is an Extrait de Parfum. Obsidian Veil opens with Rose and Jasmine, settles into a heart of Leather and Oud, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, and Sandalwood. Aromara's Obsidian Veil carries a Statement verdict, a sandalwood-led wear.

Obsidian Veil is Aromara's take on Guerlain Santal Royal, a creamy oud-and-sandalwood fragrance. It captures the smoky, creamy warmth of the pairing reasonably well, though the sandalwood base is thinner than Guerlain's signature richness.

About

Obsidian Veil is Aromara's dupe of Guerlain Santal Royal, opening with jasmine and rose before leather and oud build a smoky, sensual heart. The base of sandalwood, amber and musk closes things out warm and creamy, aiming at the same rich, opulent mood as the Guerlain original. At 35% extrait it arrives with real body, echoing the floral-leather-sandalwood signature that made Santal Royal a standout in Guerlain's Absolus d'Orient collection. The genuine Guerlain version is celebrated for an exceptionally smooth, almost velvety sandalwood base achieved through the house's decades of expertise with the material, giving the fragrance a lingering, creamy warmth that develops for hours. Aromara's version captures the jasmine-leather-oud opening convincingly and is a pleasant, warm fragrance in its own right, but the sandalwood reads noticeably less creamy and the overall composition fades sooner than Guerlain's near-£400 original. For evening and formal wear on a budget, it's a solid way into that smoky floral-sandalwood mood.
