Bleu de Chanel has been one of the best-selling men's fragrances since its 2010 launch, prized for a crisp citrus-mint opening that settles into a warm, woody-ambery base built around cedar, sandalwood and the synthetic musk iso e super, which gives the real thing its famous close-to-skin radiance. Clean Shaven's De Blue takes a clear run at that same structure: grapefruit and mint lead the way and there is a recognisable cedar-woody base underneath. What is missing is the layering - Chanel's original moves through distinct citrus, spicy-floral and woody phases over several hours, whereas this dupe reads more like a single flat citrus-wood accord from start to finish, without much development. It also fades much faster, so this works best as a light, inoffensive daily scent for the office or errands rather than a fragrance you would lean on for an evening out, where the thinner base will not carry the same clean sophistication as the real Bleu de Chanel.
