Hidden Allure opens with a warm blast of rum and cinnamon that immediately signals what it is chasing: the boozy, speakeasy character of Initio's Side Effect. It gets that first impression right, and the tobacco note that follows keeps the smoky, intoxicating mood going for a while. Where it pulls back is in the saffron, which in the original adds a sharp, slightly medicinal edge that makes Side Effect feel dangerous rather than just cosy; here it is toned down to almost nothing. The sandalwood-vanilla-tonka base is present but simpler, so the fragrance settles into a pleasant, sweet warmth rather than the layered, long-running intensity Initio built its reputation on. That makes Hidden Allure a softer, more approachable version, better suited to a low-key date or a cold-weather evening in than to nightclub-level projection. Fans of the original's edge may find this a little too polite, but as a comfortable rum-tobacco-vanilla scent on its own terms it holds up well.
