Early Modern Veil is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2020, created by Clara Weale. Early Modern's Veil carries a Statement verdict, a musk-led wear.

Veil wraps honey and beeswax in dark resins, smoke and leather, with eucalyptus cutting through the warmth. Two wearers find it medicinal at first, then sweet, smoky and cool.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Autumn Winter

Wearer votes put autumn and winter well ahead, with almost nothing for spring and none for summer. The group is small, so read it as a tendency, not a rule.

Best Occasions

Also Works:
Date Casual

Wearers describe a distinctive, warm and smoky scent but name no occasion. Date and casual wear are cautious fits, and the other occasions score lower because there is no evidence for them.

About

Veil is an Eau de Parfum from Early Modern, the Glasgow house, composed by Clara Weale. The brand presents it through mist, frost, leather and a faint fire, and the scent follows that picture: warm at its centre and cold at its edges. The brand lists honey, eucalyptus, leather, amber and beeswax as the image of the scent, and nutmeg, benzoin, labdanum, birch tar and musk as the materials. It gives no top, heart and base pyramid, so the notes are shown together. Honey, labdanum, beeswax and resins form the core, with smoke and birch tar darkening it. The few wearers who have written about it describe a contrast between the first impression and the middle. One who bought a sample describes a warming, slightly sweet honey scent. Another describes a medicinal opening that gives way to honey, spice, smoke and a cool, dark character. The votes on how long it lasts and how far it carries lean moderate, although two people chose long-lasting. Veil suits wearers who like their honey dark, resinous and a little smoky rather than sugary. Because the opening is reported as medicinal by some, a sample is the right first step.
