Oakcha Wayfarer is an Extrait de Parfum. Wayfarer opens with Bergamot and Artemisia, settles into a heart of Jasmine, Geranium, Ylang-Ylang, and Clove, and dries down to a base of Cypriol Oil or Nagarmotha, Musk, Oud, and Patchouli. Oakcha's Wayfarer carries an Acquired verdict, a green-led wear.

A big, layered oriental of rose taif and oud over moss, resin and a faint animal note. Oakcha's take on Roja - United Arab Emirates, for people who enjoy classic, complex oud blends.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Autumn Winter

Oud, labdanum, incense and civet are dense and warm, which suits the cold months. The bergamot opening is short and does little to lighten it.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

A rich, formal oriental for evenings, events and special occasions. It is too heavy for an office.

About

Wayfarer is a big, layered oriental, and it takes time to unfold. Bergamot and artemisia open it, fresh and bitter-herbal, like a first breath of cool desert air. The heart is rich with flowers and spice. Rose taif leads, with jasmine, ylang ylang and geranium around it. Black currant bud adds a green, fruity tang and clove bud adds a warm, sharp spice. The base is long and deep. Oud sits at the centre with guaiac wood, cypriol and patchouli, while oakmoss and cistus add a mossy, ambery edge. Incense, benzoin and labdanum give resinous warmth, pink pepper and cumin add a dry spice, and musk and civet bring a soft animal note. It lasts for many hours and leaves a trail, so it is best kept for cooler weather, evenings and special occasions. It suits people who enjoy classic, complex oud and rose blends. Oakcha no longer sells Wayfarer (its page has been removed from oakcha.com), and this page records it for owners. Bottom line: a rich rose and oud with moss, resin and a faint animal touch.
