La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal takes on Lancome's 2021 tropical flanker, built around a coconut-vanilla accord that reviewers compare to sipping a pina colada with a hibiscus flower tucked behind one ear. Pearl Fragrances goes straight for that coconut-vanilla signature, pushing it bright and immediate from the first spray. The mandarin-pink-pepper opening that gives Lancome's version its initial sparkle is present but softer here, and the floral heart of ylang-ylang, iris, orange blossom and jasmine - which multiple reviewers describe as surprisingly complex and hard to pin down - is simplified into a more generic tropical-floral blend. The iris-patchouli undertone that reviewers called a nice surprise in the original's drydown doesn't really survive the translation. What remains is a pleasant, sunny coconut-vanilla scent that nails the mood of the original's holographic, beach-holiday bottle without the layered complexity reviewers found in the real thing.
