Tobac Honey

Tobac Honey is Pearl Fragrances' oil take on Guerlain's Tobacco Honey from the L'Art & La Matiere collection, one of the more talked-about niche tobacco releases of recent years. The opening keeps the original's signature honey-clove sweetness, but the attar format turns the volume up on it, making the first impression stickier and more one-note than the spray, which balances honey against a sharper anise. The tobacco, tonka and vanilla heart is recognisable and genuinely warm, though it loses some of Guerlain's smoky, dried-leaf realism in translation, coming across softer and more generically gourmand. The base settles into a light oud and sandalwood rather than the deeper resinous complexity of the original, which was part of what earned it praise from niche reviewers. As an oil, it behaves true to type: strong up close for the first hour, then a long, quiet honeyed-tobacco skin scent for the rest of the day. It won't fool anyone who has smelled the real Guerlain, but as an affordable way into that honey-and-tobacco style, it does the job.
