The heart turns dry and woody, papyrus and cedar laced with patchouli and a citrus glint, before the real drama arrives: a smoky curl of incense wrapped around oud, with sandalwood, labdanum, moss and musk grounding it. Against By Kilian's Black Oud, this clone keeps the incense-oud-rose balance intact but renders the oud less animalic and three-dimensional, so it reads smoother and a touch more synthetic, losing some of the original's smouldering depth. Black Oud is a sillage scent rather than a beast, and the dupe steps down further to moderate projection and a few hours of smoky woods before settling skin-close.
