Cashmere Musk reaches for Clive Christian's E Cashmere Musk, one of the house's softer, more wearable musks. It opens with a gently spiced citrus flicker - bergamot and blood orange brightened by ginger, pink pepper and a touch of Sichuan pepper - before melting into the heart that defines it: a pillowy cashmeran accord, faintly floral with green leaves and a whisper of jasmine, soft and enveloping rather than loud. The drydown is pure cosy skin: clean white musk wrapped around guaiac wood and ambroxan, intimate and slightly creamy. The original is famously light and close-wearing - a quiet luxury musk - so this dupe loses less than most in the comparison, sitting very near the skin with the same warm-cashmere feel; it gives up a little of the refined airiness and reads marginally more synthetic in the musk.
