Castle Noir opens vibrant and energetic: bright bergamot, fresh ginger and black pepper give a dynamic, citrus-spicy lift - the signature of Parfums de Marly's Castley (2025). The heart keeps the brightness with more pepper, fresh neroli, green petitgrain and a tangy timur, lending a refined citrusy-spicy character. The base settles into woody akigalawood, resinous labdanum and smooth benzoin for a warm, amber-woody finish. Perfume Parlour's interpretation captures Castley's fresh, spicy, polished character convincingly, but it reads a fraction flatter, the bright citrus opening fleeting like the original and the akigalawood base a touch more synthetic and one-note. Castley itself manages a moderate six hours with soft projection, and here longevity is similarly modest. The effect stays clean and assured - a fresh citrus-spicy woody scent for spring through autumn, at home at the office, casually, day to day or on dates.
