Where the original threads lavandin and mahonial through a genuinely green, herbal heart, this version keeps the lavender and mahonial but softens the rose around them, so the transition feels shorter and less textured. The base settles into a straightforward musk, amber and caramel combination that captures the warm, sweet direction of the designer version without its slow-building creaminess. Longevity and projection sit a notch below the original - expect a strong first few hours that taper into a light skin-scent rather than the all-day sillage Tropiques is known for. It still delivers a recognisably tropical, fruity-sweet character that works well for summer daytime wear, holidays and casual evenings out, just without the polish and depth that justifies the niche price tag on the real thing.
