Scentleys Love Shy is an Extrait de Parfum. Love Shy opens with Bergamot, Neroli, and Pink Pepper, settles into a heart of Marshmallow, Orange Blossom, and Jasmine, and dries down to a base of Musk, Vanilla, and Caramel. Scentleys's Love Shy carries an Acquired verdict, a sweet-led wear.

Love Shy chases the marshmallow-orange blossom accord that made Kilian's Love, Don't Be Shy a gourmand icon, delivering an unmistakably sweet, fluffy wear that fans of the original will recognise instantly, if less layered than Calice Becker's complex original.

About

Love Shy is Scentleys' extrait reading of Kilian's Love, Don't Be Shy, the 2007 gourmand-floral built around the fragrance world's most famous marshmallow accord. The dupe opens with a soft neroli and bergamot lift touched by pink pepper, before the composition's real point of interest arrives: an orange blossom and marshmallow heart with jasmine adding a floral counterpoint to the sugary sweetness. The base doubles down on vanilla, caramel and musk, keeping the wear firmly in cozy-sweet territory throughout. The marshmallow-orange blossom combination is instantly recognisable and Scentleys reproduces it well - within minutes this reads unmistakably as the same gourmand-floral genre as the Kilian original, all puffy sweetness and orange blossom warmth. What is lost is some of the original's layering: Kilian's version balances the marshmallow against iris, honeysuckle, sugar and a touch of civet for an almost skin-like complexity, while Love Shy is more straightforwardly sweet and one-dimensional as it develops. Performance is very good for an oil extrait, six to eight hours with the sweetness lingering close to skin. A comforting, easy-to-love gourmand for wearers who adore the marshmallow signature and want it daily rather than saved for the original's much higher price point.
