Sweet Notes is a group note for the gourmand register: vanilla, tonka, caramel, honey and the baked and roasted things beside them. It is the broadest group in this set and its own error bars say so - its members disagree more than any other group's.

Scent Profile

Sweet and vanillic first, with a creamy lactonic softness and a roasted nutty warmth behind it. Powdery at the edges from heliotrope, a little dried fruit, and the hay-and-tobacco character that tonka brings.

No single source. The weighted common ground of 102 published notes, led by vanilla, tonka, peach, heliotrope, honey, coconut, caramel, almond and coffee. The breadth is the point and the problem: coffee and coconut are both sweet and they share very little else.

Usage in Perfumery

A sweet accord is a base. It is the second longest-lasting group here and it is what gives a gourmand its stay. Perfumers use it under fruit to stop the fruit reading thin, and under wood to round it.
