Aromatic Conflict Black is presented as a reinterpretation of Amouage's Interlude Black Iris, opening with cool violet leaf and softly sweet vanilla for an immediate contrast between green freshness and gourmand warmth. In the heart, smooth orris meets resinous myrrh, adding depth while chasing the original's signature incense character. The base fuses leather, dry cedar, and smoked frankincense over an amber-labdanum glow, with patchouli rounding out the composition. The structure, cool violet through resinous incense, follows the shape of the Amouage original reasonably closely for the opening stretch. Where the two part ways is in density: Amouage's Interlude Black Iris is built on exceptionally rich, high-concentration resins that project and evolve for many hours, while this version's incense-amber base is comparatively light and settles into a soft skin scent well before the original would still be smouldering. It remains an accessible way to sample the smoky, resinous incense genre, best suited to formal cool-weather evenings.
