Miss Di takes on Dior's 2017 Miss Dior Eau de Parfum, built by house perfumer Francois Demachy around a Damask-and-May-rose duo with a strong citrus top. Pearl Fragrances keeps the bright lemon-mandarin-pink-pepper opening lively and immediate, which is genuinely one of the more convincing parts of this dupe. The layered rose heart - reviewers note the roses stay properly rosy without turning sugary, and that the jasmine leaf keeps things restrained - is simplified into a single, less nuanced rose note here. The rosewood-patchouli base, which some reviewers compare to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and others find recalls Dior's own Dune in the far drydown, is thinned considerably, fading to a simple musk-woody finish well before the original's romantic, crystal-and-candlelight character has a chance to fully develop. Best suited to a quick daytime spritz rather than the cosy winter-evening role Dior built the real thing for.
