Oud Wood Attar

Oud Wood Attar takes on one of Tom Ford's most acclaimed fragrances, known for softening oud's typically sharp, medicinal edge into something smooth and wearable. This oil gets the core idea across well: a warm, sweet woody accord that reads as oud without ever turning harsh, and a vanilla-amber base that stays close and comforting through most of the wear. Where it falls short is the opening - the cardamom and rosewood that give the real Oud Wood its spiced, polished entrance are present only faintly, so the transition from top to heart feels abrupt rather than the seamless build Tom Ford is known for. The sandalwood in the middle helps round things out and keeps the composition from feeling one-note. Longevity is limited and projection stays low, as expected of an oil, settling into a soft woody-sweet skin scent within an hour or so. It's a reasonably faithful, if simplified, take on a fragrance whose whole appeal is subtlety - which makes the flattening here more noticeable than on louder dupes.
