Great Wood

Perfume Parlour Great Wood is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2019. Great Wood opens with Leather, Oud, and Bergamot, settles into a heart of Tiramisu, Rose, Violet, and Patchouli, and dries down to a base of Vanilla, Cedar, Amber, and Sandalwood. Perfume Parlour's Great Wood carries a Statement verdict, a oud-led wear.

Perfume Parlour's run at Mancera Precious Oud. The indulgent tiramisu-vanilla-oud signature is recognisable, but Great Wood softens the original's boozy, beast-mode intensity into a sweeter, more wearable - and noticeably weaker-projecting - version.

About

Great Wood opens dark and a little animalic - leather and Laotian oud lifted by a touch of bergamot, echoing the boozy burst that makes Mancera Precious Oud so distinctive (though the whiskey note of the original is left out here). The heart is where the dupe earns its keep: a creamy, coffee-and-cocoa tiramisu accord laced with rose, violet and magnolia gives it that gourmand-floral indulgence, with patchouli adding earthy depth. It dries down sweet and creamy on vanilla, amber and sandalwood over a quiet cedar-oakmoss frame. Against the original, Great Wood is gentler in every dimension: Precious Oud's huge 12-hour projection and its smoky, luxurious heft are pulled back, the oud reads cleaner and less raw, and the whole thing skews sweeter and easier. Longevity is good for a budget scent but won't reach the original's beast mode. A cosy, gourmand-oud comfort fragrance for cold evenings that captures the Mancera's appeal at a fraction of the cost.
