The heart blooms into a creamy white-floral bouquet of jasmine, rose and lily of the valley, smoothed by a powdery iris root. The base is the chypre heart of the scent: patchouli and vetiver give an earthy backbone while vanilla, musk, virginia cedar and a touch of French labdanum round it into a warm, sweet skin scent. Against the original, this Perfume Parlour version captures the fruity-floral-to-warm arc but renders the plush, luscious skin-scent quality flatter and a little more synthetic, with shorter longevity and gentler projection than the famously rich Clive Christian.
